Organoids, 2025

Technology SuperCycle

Oil on canvas – 176 x 90 cm | 69.3 x 35.4 inches

This piece formally references Botticelli’s “Birth of Venus” but reimagines the scene as the emergence of a new form of consciousness. The central figure no longer rises from a seashell, but from a cluster of cerebral organoids—miniature brain structures cultivated in laboratories from human cells.

These organoids are increasingly used in scientific research as potential biological processors for artificial intelligence and computation. Suspended in a luminous void and guided by a cherub that covers her eyes, the figure embodies both awe and uncertainty before this biotechnological threshold.

“Organoids” is a contemporary allegory of synthetic life, vulnerability, and the spiritual ambivalence provoked by technological progress rooted in biology.
